Enterprise Education

Context

The School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore is at the forefront of pioneering educational practices.

As part of its commitment to delivering cutting-edge learning experiences, MAE recently upgraded one of their course within the MSc Project Management program. This upgrade introduced Virtual Reality (VR) technology to provide students with realistic negociation scenarios to practice in.

Objectives

1. Innovative Learning Experience: Create a more engaging and realistic learning experience, allowing students to practice real-world scenarios in a controlled environment.

2. Enhanced Student Engagement: With gamified-like learning, simulating real-life procurement and contract management situations.

3.Industry-Standard Training: To set a new standard for education in project management by incorporating cutting-edge XR technology, thus preparing students for the demands of the modern workplace.

Results

The upgraded course, showcased at the IHL-CIO 2024 Forum, was developed in full autonomy by the teams at NTU.

The integration of VR allowed students to immerse themselves in realistic, interactive scenarios, enhancing their understanding of complex concepts.

This initiative is setting up a new standard of learning at NTU and serves as a model for other institutions looking to integrate emerging technologies into their curricula.
