Inside the Training: A Surgical Team Under Pressure
The scene is set in a struggling community hospital, understaffed and under financial pressure. The surgical team is real: a distracted attending, a resident stretched between career and family, a travel nurse on his first day, and an anesthesiologist with his mind on his newborn at home.
What follows is a cascade of small failures: missed cues, poor handoffs, silence where someone should have spoken up. The patient codes. The debrief that follows is where the real learning happens.
